TJ’s love of music began at a very young age, but it wasn’t until the age of 11 that he got his first guitar. Not long after, he began playing with some neighborhood friends, forming their first band in the 8th grade. While playing in the local music scene, TJ also developed a love for photography which continues to this day.

After graduating with a degree in Music Production Technology, TJ moved back to his hometown of Atlanta, GA. He soon discovered his love of sharing music through working at a local music lesson studio. He spent the next 10 years managing music retail stores and lesson studios in Roswell, Alpharetta, and Johns Creek before Covid.

During the pandemic, TJ left the retail world and focused on his photography and also got married! Then, in April 2022, he joined the School of Rock family as the new General Manager of our Johns Creek school.

“Working at School of Rock is more than just a job. Being a part of the community, you actually see your students grow up and find their own voice. You feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself. You are making a difference.”

He would pick up the guitar and learn as much as he could from all sorts of classic rock and grunge bands. At 8 years old, he began taking private guitar lessons which furthered his love and knowledge of the instrument and music as a whole.

As a teenager, Logan would come home from school and immediately start playing and practicing until it was time to go to sleep. Discovering and becoming more and more influenced by bands like Coheed and Cambria, Periphery, and Chon, he would start experimenting with his own songwriting and riff writing. By age 17, Logan would join his first few bands and play in the local Atlanta and Athens music scenes.

Logan wants to show the younger generations of new guitar players how to visualize the guitar as a tool for creativity, like a paintbrush for a painting, and to help these students find their distinct voices on the instrument.

Alec

Alec grew up listening to his dad play guitar and sing country songs. The earliest artists he remembers hearing were the Grateful Dead and John Prine, both of whom he still loves today. Alec wanted to play drums when he was younger but his parents were worried that it would be too loud! When he was 13 years old, a few of his friends that played guitar recommended he start playing bass so, for his 14th birthday, Alec got a bass guitar and started taking lessons shortly after. At the time, he was really into punk rock, listening to bands like Green Day, NOFX, and Rancid but his bass instructor expanded his taste, getting him into bands like the Meters and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

A few years later, Alec started picking up some guitar through his high school's guitar program. During high school, he spent a lot of time going to concerts and music festivals where he fell in love with live music and started playing live himself. After high school, Alec chose to continue studying music at the University of South Alabama where he studied music business and classical guitar. Since graduating he has been playing with various artists and teaching. His favorite genres to play are funk, rock, and folk but really he is just thrilled whenever any type of artist wants to include him in their project!

He is obsessed with live concerts, and will happily talk your ear off about the various festivals he has attended over the years. Most importantly, he loves learning about his student's preferences and finding ways to open their world to new sonic influences.

“Teaching is all about engagement. Engagement is all about energy. Energy is all about play. If you’re not actively playing along with your students, they have no reason to play along with you.”

Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Guitar Teacher Dan
Dan
Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Guitar Teacher
Dan is a multi-instrumentalist, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, and a former pianist/conductor for the Loomis Bros. Circus. More importantly, he is passionate about teaching others the spirit of rock n’ roll, and inspiring the next generation with a lifelong love of music!

Dan started out playing guitar when he was 7 years old and then, at age 10, he taught himself chords and songs on piano using a Beatles lead sheet book, a note name chart, and basic guitar theory. Later, Dan took classical and rock piano lessons for a few years. Once he began writing songs at the age of 15 (with inspiration from Green Day, Blink-182, The Beatles, and Men at Work), he was headed straight on the path to Berklee College of Music.

During college, Dan taught in-home lessons for both guitar and piano around the Boston metro area. College was also a time when he not only honed in on his instrumentation abilities but also his performance, production, music business, songwriting, and advanced theory skills.

After graduating, Dan moved down to the Atlanta area where he taught guitar, piano, and bass and ran a few rehearsals at School of Rock in Snellville. Nearly a year later, he was called to go on the road with the Loomis Bros. Circus for a few tours. These tours knocked his piano-playing and ensemble-leading skills to the next level.

After six months of adventure, Dan is back at School of Rock with more experience and passion for rock n' roll than ever!
