Twenty years of experience and hundreds of thousands of students have taught us that playing music with others results in stronger proficiency compared to conventional music education. Working toward and experiencing live performance is the core of our curriculum. Our students grow as individuals by taking the stage with others. While our students work with bandmates, they learn broader life skills like collaboration, compromise and courage.
We call this revolutionary approach to music education The School of Rock Method™. The School of Rock Method builds musical proficiency through our proprietary Method App, Method Book collection, and SongFirst approach. Our Method has been awarded a patent making our teaching system available nowhere else.
School of Rock's PERFORMANCE BASED MUSIC EDUCATION includes programs for all ages and skill levels.
Rock 101 is one of School of Rock’s major music programs. Kids ages 8-13 have a weekly group rehearsal where they learn classic rock songs that have been arranged and simplified specifically for beginner musicians. These rehearsals are all about getting young musicians to learn the fundamentals of their instrument and playing with a band in a positive and fun atmosphere. Students also have a weekly private music lesson where they learn foundational music and instrument skills and concepts.
Learn MoreThe Performance Program is School of Rock's hallmark music program. It consists of a weekly group rehearsal where students work with a band composed of their peers to play through rock music's most iconic songs. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and opportunity to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons to refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare students for live performances. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a real audience.
Learn MoreRookies is a music program designed for kids ages 6-7 with no previous musical experience. Students have one weekly group lesson where they learn music fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Rookies students also learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they are then able to decide which one they ultimately want to continue pursuing in Rock 101.
Learn MoreCreating original songs can be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences for musicians. School of Rock’s Songwriting Program teaches the fundamentals of songwriting, arrangement and music theory, and helps students compose original works. Students have one weekly private lesson on an instrument of their choice where they learn concepts, technique and theory. These principles are then applied in weekly group lessons where students work together on songwriting exercises and lyrical workshops. Every few months, Songwriting Program students take the stage to perform or band together to record their original songs.

Learn MoreThe Little Wing music program is our entry-level group music program for kids, and features special curriculum designed for children ages 3-5. Little Wing students have a weekly group lesson in which they use classic rock songs to learn about rhythm, song structure, melody, dynamics, and foundational music skills through play. Games and other interactive activities are used to help these young students internalize music foundations.
Learn MoreSchool of Rock's Adult Program is for students over 18-years-old who are looking to improve their musical proficiency, or learn an instrument for the first time. Utilizing the patented School of Rock Method, Adult Program uses a performance-based music education approach. This means the curriculum focuses on learning music concepts and applying them in a live performance setting. Our Adult Program includes a weekly private lesson and a weekly group rehearsal. Every student is placed in a band of fellow adults, where they learn musical concepts and skills before taking the stage in a live performance.
Learn MoreThe School of Rock House Band music program allows students under 18 the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. All students in the Performance Program are eligible to audition for a spot in their school's House Band. Once selected, House Band members perform at local rock venues and are viewed as leaders in their School of Rock community.
Learn MoreThe School of Rock AllStars Tour highlights the very best students from around the world by sending these talented musicians on a country-wide summer tour across the United States. Students in both the Performance Program and House Band are eligible to audition for this prestigious program. The audition process includes video submissions, followed by live auditions. Once selected, students will have an authentic touring experience, including traveling on a tour bus, doing tour publicity, and performing nightly at famous venues and festivals during a two-week tour.
Learn MoreWe utilize Performance Based Music Education where students are exposed to full-band rehearsals and one-on-one lessons. This combination allows students to learn key concepts and skills during their individual lessons, and then practice those teachings with other students during their band rehearsals. The result is our students become very proficient at their instruments.
There's nothing like the friendship that is formed between band mates. The act of playing and performing in our group music programs fosters an incredible band dynamic and plants the seeds of lasting friendships. School of Rock is where you will find your tribe.
While learning to play and perform music, students develop confidence, learn to work in a team, establish self-discipline, and experience the excitement of achieving incredible goals.
