Luke
General Manager
Luke is a native Houstonian, father of two, and lover of sports and music! He is a singer/songwriter, who has played in many different genres of bands over the years including folk, metal, and rock, and spent years leading worship in different churches around the city.
Luke currently plays in an ambient rock/emo band from the area called Margins. He plays guitar, bass, keys, does vocals, and is starting to learn drums as well!
Tyler
Music Director
Tyler is a credited singer/songwriter with blues and rock influences originally from Chino Hills, California. Currently he resides in Houston, playing acoustic and rock shows all over Texas and the surrounding areas. Tyler has been performing for over 10 years and has recorded in award-winning studios in Nashville and Houston. He has written songs that have played on radio stations throughout Texas. As well as his acoustic career, Tyler is a part of a rock n' roll band, Vanilla Whale, where he has had success with radio play and has opened up for bands like Living Color, Lita Ford, Radio Moscow and The Sheep Dogs. Tyler’s influences range from The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to John Mayer, Sturgill Simpson and Johnny Cash. He is the Music Director at School of Rock Kingwood.
Tom
Guitar and Bass Teacher
Tom began his interest in music at a very young age. After his father introduced him to bands like Tom Petty, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac, he was determined to pursue a life in music. Taking inspiration from his father’s guitar playing and mother’s singing, he started teaching himself guitar until taking lessons at age 11. After earning a degree in Recording Arts, Tom started writing and recording his own music before joining an indie rock band, touring the states playing large shows such as FPSF and CMJ Official and landing a song in a Hyundai commercial through MusicDealers.com. Tom’s favorite music covers a broad spectrum, ranging from bands such as Washed Out and Radiohead to Cat Stevens and TesseracT.
Mariah
Singing Teacher, Rookies Teacher
Mariah has been involved in music all her life. She grew up singing at family functions and churches and joined choir in elementary school. During middle and high school, Mariah went to the All-State choir several times. Upon graduating high school, she attended Sam Houston State University to complete her vocal performance degree. Mariah's love for music continues to grow and she loves music ranging from Weezer to Clara Schumann. Some of her favorite artists include Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Queen, and Jimi Hendrix.
Eli
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Eli has been playing music for over a decade. He started in orchestra in the fifth grade where he played upright bass and later learned electric guitar. He joined School of Rock where he became an intern and graduated from the program.
Eli loves metal bands, such as Chelsea Grin, and he also enjoys classical music such as Wagner. He has always wanted to be a School of Rock instructor since he joined as a student, and now he has finally fulfilled that dream. His favorite guitars are Ibanez and Legator. Chelsea Grin concerts are his favorite, he has seen them perform over 17 times!
Felix
Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Felix is a guitarist and keyboardist with inspiration from jazz alternative and psychedelic styles. He is passionate about music theory and creative discovery and his roots were formed in a chordal approach to keys taught by his worship leader and mentor. This was soon followed by a budding interest in exploring progressive-fusion flavors with guitar. Felix is an aspiring professional musical performer and is ecstatic to share the skills he has learning along the way.
Kalyssa
Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Singing Teacher
Kalyssa has over five years of experience teaching piano, voice, and ukulele. She has been instrumental in guiding students on their musical journeys. Inspired by artists like Lianne La Havas, Fiona Apple, and JOSEPH, Kalyssa infuses her teaching with diverse musical styles, creating an engaging and enriching learning environment.
In addition to her teaching endeavors, Kalyssa is an accomplished performer. She brings her musicianship to private events and has also played at Lake Houston Brewery, delivering memorable performances that leave a lasting impression. Kalyssa's passion for music education and her ability to captivate audiences make her a true standout. Whether she is guiding students in their musical exploration or delivering enchanting performances, Kalyssa is dedicated to sharing her love for music with others.
Paolo
Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher
At an early age, Paolo was introduced to and influenced by his uncle's collection of cassette tapes. Listening to Nirvana's 1991 Nevermind record is one of his earliest memories. He began pursuing his interest in guitar in the fourth grade and drums in the fifth grade. Once Paolo joined his middle school percussion program, he fell in love with the art and decided to keep playing throughout high school.
Paolo has performed in different roles as a musician, from a jazz drummer for a regional jazz band, to center tenor drums in a drum line. Having the opportunity to play for the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium has been one of his biggest gigs so far but his journey has only just begun!
Some of Paolo's favorite bands include Animals as Leaders, CHON, Circa Survive, Deftones, Interpol, Minus the Bear, Modest Mouse, The Fall of Troy, TTNG, and Veil of Maya.
Jonathan
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Jonathan is an experienced guitar player with over a decade of live performance experience. He joined his first band when he was 13 years old and has been playing gigs all over the state of Texas every weekend ever since. His influences range from great blues players like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy to rock legends like Jimmy Page and Angus Young.
The bands Jonathan has played with have opened for national acts such as Doyle Bramhall, Saliva, Saving Abel, and even Dennis Quaid. Jonathan is passionate about blues rock but is also experienced in multiple other genres including country, reggae, and jazz.
Hannah
Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Singing Teacher
Hannah grew up with an influx of influence from varying genres such as pop, country, pop punk, musical theater, jazz, and gospel; however, she favors pop punk and musical theater above all. Hannah's favorite artists include Taylor Swift, Lizzy McAlpine, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne and her favorite musicals are "Hamilton" and "Waitress." She is currently working towards an associate's degree in music performance.
Hannah has nearly a decade of experience in stage performance. She began learning piano and guitar as a young teenager. She has continued to enhance her musical skills through her education and other learning resources and is constantly expanding on her expertise. Hannah is proficient in music theory and shares her knowledge with all of her students to encourage their journey to become excellent at their desired musical craft.
Hannah began writing her own songs when she was 13 years old with the dream of having them professionally produced and recorded. She finds the music business captivating and plans to move to Los Angeles to pursue her career.
Jesse
Drum Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Jesse is a drummer at heart, with over a decade of experience behind the drum set. He picked up on drum method and music theory through seven years as a marching band student and learned even more about the drum set by performing in the high school jazz and concert bands. He began learning guitar and bass when he was 13 years old and gained experience performing by joining bands and hosting DIY concerts.
Jesse has played gigs all over Houston with numerous bands, taking on various settings and styles of music. His diverse musical experience has allowed him to form an understanding of each instrument's importance in both independent and group settings. Jesse is committed to providing an engaging and productive learning experience for each of his students.
